Summary (100 words or less):

This East African regional project idea starts by analysing the current situation. It reports that governments are showing an increasing interest in household sanitation and school hygiene and that national level coordination platforms exist in most countries. It then goes on to look at some of the challenges it faces and to set out its own objectives and the results it expects to see: more cost-effective sanitation programmes in place, mainstream learning development opportunities and building a sustainable system. It identifies the main areas of activities, as well focus countries and potential partners.
