Existing sanitation conditions in Ethiopia are extremely poor and yet it is widely acknowledged that introducing better facilities and hygiene education can greatly enhance not only health but also learning opportunities. This manual takes a close look at different systems and devices for water supplies, water lifting devices, school toilets, waste water management systems and handwashing facilities. It provides the basic information needed to determine what type of facility is most suitable ad the considerations that need to be made. The scope of the manual is to provide a child-friendly product that augments engineering decisions made on site.
