Background and Rationale for School Sanitation and Hygiene Education looks at the global context. Importantly it tells us that many of the infections that school-age children are prone to, are preventable through better sanitation facilities and enhanced hygiene practices. It goes on to link improved sanitation and hygiene to better health outcomes and improved learning.
